Heartsease Primary School

The new school is to be built on the site of the current Heartsease First and Middle Schools and will amalgamate Heartsease First School, Woodside First School and Heartsease Middle School. Work will commence in July 2006.

Heartsease First and Middle Schools will continue to function in their existing accommodation for the construction period (school year 2006/07).

The new premises will accommodate 420 pupils between the ages of 5 to 11 and will open in September 2007 at which point the three existing schools will merge as one primary school

The accommodation will include a nursery, a playgroup and a Language Development Centre plus 14 classbases, a hall, a studio, an ICT Room and an ADT room. A kitchen will also be provided to supply school meals.

External facilities will include hard and soft play areas as well as a playing field. The existing hard play area is to be refurbished to become a multi-use games area.

The existing Heartsease buildings (excluding the swimming pool) will be demolished after July 2007. No decision has been made on the future of the Woodside premises.
