Introducing the Safety Neighbourhood Team

We’d like to introduce ourselves to the residents of the Heartsease estate!

SGT Julie Johnson, PC Paul Essam, PCSO Andy Vinsen and PCSO Ben Burton are the officers who are responsible for on-going issues on your estate. You may have already seen us around, either on foot or on bikes, and we’ve had the pleasure of speaking to many of you already. You’ll also see our colleagues around on patrol – PC Nicki Payne and PC Graham Robinson, and PCSO Paul Scarborough, PCSO Keith Slatter and PCSO Steve Stone.

We’d like to explain that the team is still in its early days, with not all the staff in place. However we’re getting there, and if you see us around, please feel free to stop and talk to us about any issues you might have, or just for a chat! A major part of our job is to listen to your issues and find a way of solving them, often with the help of the other professional partners on the Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Safer Neighbourhoods is all about working closely with the neighbourhood wardens, councillors, anti-social behaviour analysts and coordinators and housing officers, among others, to bring a feeling of safety, well-being and community awareness to the Heartsease. It’s not just about the important aspect of Police responding to incidents as they happen. This aspect will of course remain, and will not diminish as a result of the implementation of the Safer Neighbourhood Team.

We want to be visible and accessible to you, and we’ll work hard to respond to your needs and concerns. Your feedback, no matter how small an amount, is important for us. We can’t act on issues we know nothing about!

You can expect to see us about between 8am and midnight. We can also be contacted on 0845 456 4567.

We’re looking forward to getting to know you all!

Introducing the Police Beat Base
(affectionately known as ‘The Pod’)

By the towers & is now up and running on the Estate.
We’re having a ‘Grand Opening’ on Sat 23rd Feb, when we’ll be there most of the day for people to come and see us about what ever they’d like. We will then be there for a drop-in clinic once every couple of weeks at least.
The idea will be to advertise in advance of each clinic with a poster at Clancy Road's HRA Posterboard & on this site, as the day will change depending on our shifts, but the intention will be alternating between one weekday and one weekend day.

Hope to see you there
